The put a try-hard lawyer in charge of the game. A game that poorly tried to balance content put even more focus into raiding with Mythic Raids. Now there was no development time placed on casuals, so the vast majority of people subscribed had nothing to do.

"Character" is not an account - so an account can hold multiple character contributions but for the sake of reality let's assume these are all unique accounts. About 512K characters have the PO/EA minion.

WoW are equally hush-hush about there numbers but leveraging some historical context paired with a questionable chart shown by Blizz at GDC we can ballpark where the numbers are at around 7.25 million for "World of Warcraft" as a whole (counting classics/etc).

I don't know what the EXACT number of real players are, but anyone who actually PLAYS WoW will know that the game is more alive than ever. XIVtrannies can keep coping with whatever the newest e-celeb clickbait WOW IS DEAD video all you want, but it's not going to change the fact that WoW is still the biggest and best MMO.

i think ffxiv is a boring as frick game but you have to admit the story of the game (not the in game story but its real life redemption) is extremely unique and is quite a feel good situation
its not surprising that people would go to bat for it so hard, they want to feel like they were a part of it kind of like a reverse tortanic

and wow has been dogsh*t awful for 15 years at this point so trolling the braindead blizzdrones still eating it up with another games success is very easy

Viper might be the most fricking bland job they've ever put out aesthetically and the one most disconnected from its own story and origin. Artifact armor isn't important even in a silly sense like Blue Mage's as a brand new job, it's just a coat the guy picked up from the Weaver's Guild. Mechanically it's pretty good.
Pictomancer is something of the opposite but not to the same extreme, excellent aesthetics and good gameplay, haven't gotten really hands on with it yet.

They literally did not playtest most jobs, if any. Samurai, Black Mage and Monk are fricked. Dragoon's Mirage Dive is useless and now feels weird, not immediately being available off of Jump, Nastrond is similar with Geirskogul. Something about songs has changed to be ping-dependent, so Bard doesn't feel quite right even with its changes. Auto-Crossbow is now a damage loss on Machinist.
