| | | Non-Film Score Discussion:SNOW WHITE, THE KILLER, THE TERMINATOR | 12 NEXTLAST | Last Post |
| | | | | | | | Posted: | Aug 16, 2023-11:34 AM | | | By: | dragon53(Member) | WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16 A HAUNTING IN VENICE---featurette released for the Hercule Poirot sequel. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pycEdLxISBk A MILLION MILES AWAY---trailer released for the Amazon Prime astronaut movie starring Michael Pena. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-HcUuiLzR8 SNOW WHITE---Rachel Zegler, star of Disney's remake of the classic 1937 animated movie, created a controversy when she said she does not like the original movie, "I think i watched it once and never picked it up again. I'm being so serious." Zegler said her remake will be an improvement, "I just mean that it's no longer 1937. We absolutely wrote a SNOW WHITE that...she's not going to be saved by the prince, and she's not going to be dreaming about true love; she's going to be dreaming about the leader she knows she can be and that her late father told her that she could be a fearless, fair, brave and true." She quipped that co-star Andrew Burnap's scenes as Prince Charming "could get cut. Who knows? It's Hollywood, baby." Branding expert Carla Speight said Zegler's comments could be very harmful to Disney's bottom line, "Whilst it's been clear that the original Disney Princess films hold old values, Disney have fallen for the trap of going to the opposite extreme to inflict strong and loaded messaging on the viewers — believing that's empowerment. There was a time when Disney actors were media trained and were thoughtful about the impact of their words, whilst sticking to key messaging about the films, but it seems with this total rewrite of SNOW WHITE, picturing her as a 'boss girl' has gone to the heads of their stars. Disney will need to be careful with how they have portrayed Snow White and what they do and don't allow their actors to say about it going forwards. They simply cannot repeat the same mistakes and allow their actors to be so vocal in their own personal opinions during promotions. It can have a huge impact on ticket sales, especially with the amount of negative backlash so early in the promo trail. They need to get the key messaging and strong selling point into a brief for the cast of the film and ensure they stick to it. If they don't, it's a disaster waiting to happen and the backlash will keep growing." Disney executive are reportedly holding "crisis talks" on how to deal with Zegler's comments. THE KILLER---photo released of Michael Fassbender starring in the David Fincher/Netflix assassin movie based on the graphic novel. THE TOXIC AVENGER---photo released of Peter Dinklage starring in the remake of the 1984 horror movie. THE LAST OF US---showrunner Craig Mazin commented on Season 2 which will have a bigger budget than Season 1, "...I’m very studiously avoiding confirming anything even through a passive acceptance of a question. Anybody that has played the game and then watched the first season knows that sometimes we do exactly what happened to the game and sometimes we do something wildly different. We also don’t necessarily do things in the same order, or at the same time. In our first season, we repeatedly did things that were upsetting — everyone died except Joel and Ellie. People understood watching the show that this was a story where people aren’t safe." INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY---DIAL OF DESTINY could lose $100 million. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-DEAD RECKONING PART ONE could also lose $100 million, but its positive reviews and long-term earnings means it has a better chance of making a profit. Both sequels had huge budgets (DIAL OF DESTINY--$300 million and DEAD RECKONING--$290 million) which hurt their chances of being profitable. ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING---creator Jim Hoffman said there is a good possibility that there will be a Season 4, “As many [seasons] as they’ll have us for! I really mean it. This is one of those shows [where] everyone involved in it is so happy doing it – and I know I speak for the trio and everyone else. When you have lightning in a bottle in this way, and then there’s this magnetizing force of incredible talent who say, ‘Wow, that looks like fun. I would love to be a part of that.’ I hope it gives it a good long life.” TRIVIA---Arnold Schwarzenegger's classic line "I'll be back" from THE TERMINATOR was No. 37 on the American Film Institute's 100 Years--100 Movie Quotes in 2005. Schwarzenegger commented on the line, "I think about how it was an accident. Jim Cameron and I were debating how to say the line because I was not comfortable with saying 'I’ll.' I said, 'I think it’s stronger to say, ‘I will be back.’ Cameron said, 'Are you the scriptwriter now? It’s just one word. Don’t tell me how to write. I don’t tell you how to act.' I said, 'You tell me how to act every f*cking minute! What are you talking about?!' So he says, 'Arnold, you think it sounds weird. It doesn’t. What makes it great is that you sound different than me or Charlie over there. That’s what makes it work. So just say it 10 times. Say it different ways. I’ll keep rolling the camera. Then we’ll choose one.' So they set it up, and I say: '(Flatly) I’ll be back … (cheerful) I’ll be back! … (guttural) I’ll beeee baaaack …' It sounded stupid." Schwarzenegger added, "The movie comes out. I’m in Central Park. This guy comes up and says, 'Say the line!' … Now, a few days ago, I was skiing in Aspen, and the concierge comes up asking me to say the line. So that’s where it started and where it ended up. It’s wild. I’m the last one to get complicated and say, 'I don’t want to compare myself to my movies or use a line from my movies.' Hell, Clint Eastwood takes the clothes from his movies and that’s all he wears. So why would I be worried about using a line?" She would have if she had common sense. In this version she is part of someone else’s vision and acting their script. Maybe they should have held “crisis talks” when they approved the script I get the feeling that, even if Zegler had been playing, say, Esmeralda in the Hunchback of Notre Dame remake and said that she loved the movie and watched it all the time when she was younger, people would still be dragging her. Good grief, this is Brie Larson all over again. I imagine that just ignoring what celebrities say would be much less exhausting than people giving themselves rage strokes over stuff like this. Also, the whole paragraph about Snow White not being saved by the prince and being a warrior and all that stuff…that’s Mirror Mirror. You just pitched Mirror Mirror. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Posted: | Aug 17, 2023-7:35 AM | | | By: | nuts_score(Member) |

If Dragon53 had not have posted it, it would be a nothingburger. Apparently it was something she said on Tik Tok long ago and recently re-surfaced. I doubt any of us use, or even want to use, Tik Tok in the first place. Of course we are all entitled to our opinions; except her. That's kinda how it feels. I would've had zero interest in this Snow White even before that first set photo leaked of the Seven Greenwich Village People, and I still had zero interest when it did. I had zero interest before Zegler's comments came back to light. And I still have zero interest. People feign the interest because outrage is the rage in the echo chamber. Much ado about nothing, as I had said earlier. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Non-Film Score Discussion:SNOW WHITE, THE KILLER, THE TERMINATOR | | First Post |
