- Add up the digits in your birth year. In this example, 1990 would be 1+9+9+0 = 19. Note that if you get a two-digit number like 19, you must reduce it to a single-digit number by adding the two digits together. In this case, 1+9 = 10, and then 1+0 = 1.
- Add the three numbers from steps 2, 3, and 4 together. In this example, 3 + 5 + 1 = 9.
- If the sum from step 5 is a two-digit number (except for 11, 22 and 33), reduce it to a single digit by adding the two digits together. In this example, 9 is already a single digit, which reveals your life path number.
If you were born on 14 May 1990, for example, the two-digit number you’ll get is 11, which is a master number, like 22 and 33. There’s no need to reduce it to a single digit.

For example, the first name Maria, would be:

4. Then, reduce all letters with double digits to a single-digit number:

5. Add up the numbers for each letter in your full birth name using table 2 above.
6. Reduce the sum to a single-digit number by adding the digits together until you get a single digit unless the sum is 11, 22, or 33, which are master numbers that need not be reduced further.
This single-digit number is your Expression or Destiny number.
For example, let’s say your full birth name is Maria Williams. You would assign each letter a number based on the chart above and write it out like this:
